Byron Lutes P.Eng., ICD.D

President

Byron was appointed President of Mancal Energy in May 2018. He worked previously at Mancal Energy Inc. for five years from 2003 to 2007 as Vice President, Operations.

Byron has over 40 years of industry experience of which 27 years have been in senior positions including President & CEO and Vice President roles in Engineering, Marketing, Business Development and Operations. Byron has held roles with Koch Industries, Southern Pacific Resource Corp., Hunt Oil, Newport Petroleum and Suncor Energy.

Byron has been an active member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) for over 20 years and is currently serving on the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors and as Chair of the Audit Committee.

He graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Petroleum Engineering. He is a member of APEGA. In 2025, Byron completed the Institute of Corporate Directors program at the University of Calgary, gaining the ICD.D designation.
